Interval training is one of the most important tools in maximizing fitness.  This article defines it as “bouts of exercise interspersed with short rest intervals.” The object is to maximize the power output during the work interval by allowing yourselves to recover slightly in the rest periods. CrossFit defines intensity as pushing ourselves as much as we physically and mentally can, interval training also allows for our minds to push our bodies even harder with the knowledge that we’ll have a built in break in a few minutes.

It has been used in many sport specific training programs and is just as applicable in CrossFit. Our interval WODs include Tabata This, Tabata Something Else, and a whole slew of other torturous workouts, including today’s:

Hang Squat Cleans (65% Clean)

4rds:
4 min/1 min rest
5 Burpees
7 Front Squats
9 Push Jerks

Shoot for 3-4 rds each set, so pick your weights accordingly (65/45#)!
