Inaugural WOD
Yesterday, some of us were lucky enough for Santa to grace with a visit and some holiday booty (a la pirates, not derriere). Santa was good to me this year and it got me thinking: was I naughty or nice this past 2009? What were my goals and what did I learn, achieve, and more importantly, contribute? It set me on a rather reflective stroll down the ’09 memory lane. What I ended up realizing was just how much you Intrepids gave this year.
CrossFit Intrepid was born August of this year as the love child of three eager trainers and raised by a close knit family of CrossFitters that have given this box a soul. Despite working out in freezing cold park WODs and sharing space with grunting powerlifters, you came, you wodded, and you contributed your sweat, heart, and ingenious ideas. I am forever grateful to each and every one of you for making our second home what it is today.
Thank you for never failing to be friendly to a newbie (if even a little too friendly…Stephen!), for making my day with every one of your PRs, for challenging yourselves and inspiring me to do the same, for keeping each other accountable to show up every day, for keeping in touch from across the country (love you Helen!!), for encouraging each other and talking endless smack, and for never, ever quitting.
Love you guys. From the bottom of my heart.

A year ago I did not even know what olympic lifting was, and now it is this fun and challenging thing that is getting my body really strong.
Ruth and Marcus if you had not taken the time to practice the basics with me that day in the park, I don’t think I would have pursued more of these types of lifts on my own up here in snowville. You gave me the courage and tools to move forward safetly. Now can’t get enough of Coach Rippetoe’s and others instructions.
Enjoyed reading such a reflective, heartfelt post to ’09.
