Drank Kool-Aid: Feb 2008, was sore for a month, then full bore in March 2008
Favorite Movt/Exercise: Power Cleans & Picking on Marcus
Least Fave Movt/Exercise: Running, KTEs, & Hamstring Stretch
Favorite WOD: Bear & AMRAP workouts
Least Fave WOD: Fran & any Running WODs
CF Goals: Keeping the CFI Cup, Staying Healthy, & staying 1 second faster than Anna
Best CF Accomplishments: Recently achieving a Deadlift PR that’s almost 2x his body weight & doing the 12 Days of Christmas WOD with a terrible hangover
Brian can be found frequenting CFI’s 6pm classes. He crushes the nightly WODs always racing his girlfriend Anna to the finish each and every night. Brian has worked extremely hard to improve his fitness and overcome knee surgery and his hard work and tenacity have been evident in his recent Back Squat and Deadlift PRs. When not Back Squatting 250 lbs or Deadlifting 365lbs for fun, Brian is quite the Wii Bowler, who bowls at least a 250 average, and Karaoke singer (especially singing falsetto to Jackson 5). Besides being an Anaheim Ducks fan (don’t hold it against him, he’s actually a decent guy) Brian is the current CFI cup holder winning last month’s Burpee Challenge. He currently finds himself in the running to retain the cup this month as he works to improve his Double Unders that he can’t seem to do unless Ruth looks away. I know all of us appreciate Brian’s energy and easy-going attitude that he brings to CFI so come out today an join us in a special WOD, requested by Brian’s girlfriend Anna. Happy Birthday Brian!

Happy Birthday Babe!!! Great post Sean… I’ll try to ignore the “staying” one second faster than Anna goal.

Ruth, is it safe for 31-year-olds to do Crossfit? You might need to scale down his work load at such an advanced age.
Quiet an impressive goal for Brian…staying 1 second ahead of his 1-armed girlfriend!!
Happy Birthday Brian!! Thanks for the daily encouragement. Way to kill the WOD yesterday. Very impressive.

Happy Birthday Brian!!! I promise not to watch you do double unders today!
LOL Scott! We’ll see if he retracts that statement when Anna takes the Cup from him this month!

Careful there Scott, he is only 30. I’m just getting comfortable admitting to dating a 30 year old. Don’t push it!!

CrossFit Intrepid » Athlete Profile Redux: Brian

[...] Last year’s birthday post focused on Brian’s major lift improvements and how he likes to beat me in every workout. While I still disagree that he ever legitimately beats me, I will acknowledge his perseverance is meeting his all of his other goals. He made some major accomplishments in 2010 inside and outside the gym. In May he purchased our first home, he went the entire year without a significant injury, he enjoyed a long season of college football without missing a mortgage payment, and he won the Intrepid cup in December, July, and September! Last year he was listed as a member of 6pm class. In 2010 he switched over to the 7pm Varsity class where he consistently gets blamed for stealing the girls clips and has all day to prepare his ridicule of Marcus for the evening. He has earned several nicknames within the gym including big guy, pasta powered duo, control group, Team BJ, snooze button (not my favorite), and my favorite Brianna. We have all come to enjoy his hilarious comments, especially the Thanksgiving guest post! But on top of it all he has been the best boyfriend a girl can ask for, finding new ways to spoil me every day. Happy Birthday Babe!!! [...]
