Paging Primal Physician

Say ahhhh. What did Grok do when he got hurt or sick? Rub some dirt in it, hop three times, and howl at the moon? In this day and age, where doctors indiscriminately prescribe medication to cure our ails, it’s also hard to find a physician who embraces, or even understands, our primal lifestyles (modified Paleo, CrossFit, etc).
In life there are so many positions that you may interview someone for, be in a secretary, a nanny, or a trainer, but most of the time, we choose our doctors by proximity and medical insurance contractors. I’m on a mission to find a local or semi-local general physician, ob-gyn, physical therapist, and pediatrician to add to our resources. We already have a great chiropractor/sports med guy (Dr. Silva, CrossFit Voodoo Doc), so that’s one down!
Ideally, my doctor would be a Paleo (or modified Paleo) eating, CrossFitting, dog lover who understands the importance of proper nutrition, fitness, and rest.
Deal breakers:
- Gives me a USDA Food Pyramid pamphlet
- Doesn’t understand the importance of lean muscle mass and tells me my BMI is too high
- Tries to prescribe medication for EVERYTHING
- Has bad bedside manner (easy on the jokes)
- Gives me a HFCS lollipop at the end of the appointment
I encourage all of you to scrutinize and interview your doctors. Take medical responsibility into your own hands and then share with the rest of us. Post any experiences, good and bad to comments.
Check out Mark’s Daily Apple’s post on the state of health care today. It’s quite fascinating, if not a bit depressing.

Jeff!! Good to see you on here! Kayaks are great for your core and obliques. You start by sitting in a piked position on the floor, balancing with your legs off the floor (in a ‘V’). Hold a kettlebell by the handles, as close to where the handles meet the ball, rotate from left to right, tapping it on the ground beside your hip. Keep your trunk tight and use those obliques to twist. (We’ll post a video of it tomorrow with some of our members demonstrating it!)
