Fish Oil Made Easy
posted by: Sean
Marcus posted on the importance of supplementing our diets with fish oil and how to manually calculate the recommended amount. Well, Whole9 and Robb Wolf have helped create a calculator to take the pencil and paper math out of the equation. Their fish oil calculator is a great tool which based on a few inputs will tell you exactly how many pills to take a day. Here’s how to use it:
- The red cells are the ones that require an input for the calculation, but the first couple cells are for body weight conversions into pounds so just scroll past them if you know your total body weight.
- Read about the fish oil factor and be honest with yourself when determining your factor. Enter your body weight and your fish oil factor into the red cells on the left.
- The cells on the right of your screen require that you enter the amount of EPA, DHA, and the serving size of a particular fish oil. If comparing fish oils, you can pull their information from the internet, otherwise you’ll have to buy some and check its nutritional label.
- Once all the cells have been updated, check the bottom of the page for your recommended daily fish oil intake.
Try not to be overwhelmed as the number may seem high. Just understand that is the recommended dosage to optimize the benefits Marcus discussed in his fish oil post. To try and minimize the number of pills you take a day find ones with high EPA and DHA concentrations.

Nice workout Saturday morning everyone. That was a lot of fun. Where do I get the recipe for that gumbo?
Thanks to Ruth, Marcus, and Sean for all their hard work in making Crossfit Intrepid come to life. The Box looks amazing and I’m sure it’s only going to get better.
