Happy Sunday fellow Intrepids.  This weekend finds Ruth & I enjoying the sights and sounds of Louisville, KY.  Our first stop was Muhammad Ali Center.  This inspiring place is in the heart of downtown right on the Ohio River and is an extensive recap of not only Ali’s superb boxing career but also inspires others to explore and understand the 6 core values that have guided Ali through his life:  Giving, Spirituality, Respect, Conviction, Dedication,  and Confidence.  The goal of the center is to inspire others to find the greatness within.  We would highly recommend a visit to the Center if you find yourself in the Louisville area.

Our next stop was to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory only a couple of blocks away in downtown Louisville.  We were able to catch the last tour of the factory where all Louisville Slugger bats are created.  I’m accustomed to seeing Louisville Slugger baseball bats all over but the factory is not as large as I imagined.  Besides the basic baseball, softball, and tee-ball bats Louisville Slugger takes custom orders typically from Major League Baseball players who can specify the type of wood used, the finish and color of the bat, and can even tinker with the dimensions and weight of the bat itself.

Saturday night found us at Louisville’s 4th Street Live.  This area of downtown is a collection of bars and clubs and we spent most of our time at Howl at the Moon, a dueling piano bar, singing along with the talented musicians and playing cornhole.  Before calling it a night we stopped and had some of the most delicious Cajun food (outside of the shrimp and jambalaya at the Grand Opening) I’ve had in a long time.

We stayed in a quaint bed and breakfast in Old Louisville which has the largest collection of Victorian homes in the U.S.  We strolled the neighborhood admiring the unique homes and played on the playground at Central Park before hitting the road.

Ruth flies back today and I’ll see you all on Friday.  For those interested in morning classes, starting Monday April 19th classes begin 30 minutes earlier and will run from 6:30-7:30AM.  Also, a Friday morning class will be available in addition to the Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday classes.  Keep up the great work in and out of the gym and I’ll see you later this week!
