We saw a lot of impressive feats during the July Challenge and your trainers couldn’t possibly be prouder of all of you. The winners for July are Brian and Anna, the pasta powered duo.
Congrats to them and to all of you for your amazing performances. We had Chris performing his first ever HSPUs, Michael cranking out 13 strict bodyweight HSPUs in a row and Drew coming in after having done a WOD last Friday while on the road that included 45 HSPU! Here are the final tabulated results with the effective weight pressed for those that did HSPU.
Men:
- Brian – 2580 (24 reps!)
- Michael – 2070 (15 strict reps!)
- Dustin – 1629
- Jake – 1125
- Chris – 1118
- Drew – 430
- Scott – 98
Women:
- Anna – 975
- Avelyne – 595
- Stephanie – 135
Handstand Hold:
- Alia – 1:04
- Xuan – 1:02
- Becky – 0:37
So what does August hold? Word has it that there will be a Paleo challenge, which will require maintaining a daily food log. Further word to come, so keep your eyes peeled for the post. Sadly, I’m willing to bet that Brian and Anna are guaranteed to decide to rest on their laurels and pass on this next contest. Perhaps they’ll prove me wrong!

ahhh… the power of pasta.
congrats to the winners and everyone who competed!
p.s. just doing some fact-finding for the proposed august challenge… potato chips and corn dogs count as paleo, right?

Grrr, Melissa, I prefer you drink whiskey than eat corn dogs!
As for the August Challenge, start today by keeping a food log, or better yet, post to comments. All food should be primal/paleo and any cheats relegated to gluten free ONLY. A total of 10 burpees are payable for every cheat, and 50 for any gluten cheat. The burpees can be paid that day in class or put off, but must be finished by the end of the month.
Obviously anyone skating by with no burpees takes the challenge! But, in the event that doesn’t happen, the person with the least # of burpees will take it.
Challenge begins NOW!

Congrats Bri-Anna! I witness that massacre and it was epic!
This proves pasta and beer is the fuel of champions!
My first consumption of the morning is water, so I’m on track for the win so far!

being vegetarian, not sure how long I’ll last on a strict paleo diet. Suggestions paleo police? (and don’t say “start eating meat!” because that’s not going to happen!)
Congrats to EVERYONE who participated in the challenge! it was definitely one of the tougher ones, so great job =)

Pooja, do you eat eggs or fish?

TBD WOD? What’s up with that? Congrats to the winners. I wouldn’t have gotten that on my best day. Also, while I am being nagative, I don’t like having a non physical challenge. There should be something else too that we can train for!!!
You want something to train for? Right here: http://www.nextlevelinvitational.com/

Sorry no physical challenge. Believe me were some ideas thrown around, but with NLP around the corner, focus on your goats and diet. September’s will be a doosy, so train smart.

Congrats Bri-Anna!! Very impressive.
Paleo challenge??? Rrrrr…not sure what I think about 50 burpees for every beer I drink this month.

Speaking of the NLP, who’s going to spectate? They have a group option which I think we can get a break on prices if we buy them in bulk.

We also have one spectator per athlete that can get in free. We can get two in with me & Sean’s code.

What time is the NLP Invitational? Any chance we can squeeze in a WOD and then go watch the event?

Nicely done Bri-Anna!!

NLP is the 14th and unfortunately, we will prolly not hold class that day. Steph, I’ll defer that question to Paleo Police!

@Drew – I’d say right now you could easily knock out 12 rounds — with 8 minutes to spare.
@Ruth/Steph – My suggestion would be to compile a concise set of rules and resources in a post, then mark off a full month (e.g., August 5th to Sept 5th), so everyone is on the same page at the starting gate. Not to mention some people getting caught off-guard may need to make a grocery trip before embarking on such a challenge. Just my 2 cents…

Good call Marcus… so I’m not a failure already.
Suggestion for the list: quick/easy breakfast food you can eat at your desk. I have cereal every morning and don’t know how to break that.

I think the massacre was AFTER the HSPUs were over (see Saturdays WOD). Team Beer training DEFINITELY turned against me on that front.
I gotta give it up to the guys who did them strict…. Tough!

Congrats Bri-Anna!
AMEN to the whiskey although I’ve stopped drinking to prep for NLP. I actually sat in a bar and ate my burger with ICED TEA while my captain downed 3 beautiful amber ales.
I also have a spectator freebie for anyone that wants it.
Nice job on Cindy today everyone! And awesome work Mike for Mary!

Paleo Challenge….
May I suggest only a 10 burpee penalty for a beer or glass of wine? I think I can handle waking up Sunday and doing 50-60 burpees, but there is no way I’m doing 250-300!!!
I assume milk and cheese are considered cheats?

@Avelyne
I like how your CAPTAIN was the one downing some beers…. makes me feel extra safe flying the friendly skies.
