Not for the faint of heart

Nestled behind the commercially popular Chicken Dijon, Al Hamra is an understated jewel that boasts authentic, high quality Middle Eastern cuisine. The menu ranges from chicken tikka masala to baba ganoush, to gyros and falafel. One a cheat note, their baklava is also delectable! They also have a friendly picture menu that you can just point to if you’re ethnic-food-challenged!

The first time I went there I ordered the beef shawerma with baba ganoush and a double salad. The meat was perfectly spiced, tender, and juicy. The dressing for the salad (lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes) was a lemony fresh. Just be sure to ask for no pita bread, or you’ll be greeted with warm pitas aplenty. I’ve also tried the lamb shank and kabob combo and the poulet a la mediterranean (a bit dry), but I’m still working my way down the menu. For the truly brave, you can engage in your own little Man Vs Food challenge and order the Meat Combo For Two (see above), which has become a staple for Sean.
