Jake has been with Intrepid since the early days in Rec Park.  Whether coaching the Redondo Union H.S. women’s soccer team to an impressive season, taking care of his new puppy Riley, or shredding workouts at the gym, Jake excels at everything he’s involved with.  Jake’s dedication, drive, and work-ethic are second to none as he’s the first to smile when he sees the long list of names on the white board as Intrepid continues to grow.  Outside of the gym Jake enjoys playing soccer, basketball, running, and has recently taken to swimming.  Although only 24 years young, Jake is well versed in 80′s music and has been known to lay down some sweet lyrics at gym Rock Band parties.  Jake has established himself as one of Intrepid’s resident “Fire-Breathers” as he sets the bar in most workouts.  Jake has amazing potential and we’re looking forward to seeing him in action again on the Intrepid “Clash of the Affiliates” team.  Jake, I only have one request:  please drive your VW Beetle more often so I can sock Ruth, who as of late as been crushing me in our ongoing “punch-buggy” game.  I need every edge I can get ;-)

Straight from Jake the Snake:  “RAMS/MARS- thanks guys for the training and motivation you give everyday. Its been awesome to see everyone progress and make huge gains as well as seeing the Box grow. We def have the sickest Box. I can honestly say that everyone is a beast. Lets keep up the solid work. 1st round of Bday shots on Becky!”

Also, a happy birthday shoutout to Gary!  Although Gary drops in only a few times a month to workout with us, he can be seen doing doggy drive-bys outside the roll up door on his way to his martial arts classes.  Hope all is well Gary, and stop in more often…we miss you.  And don’t forget, we’re going out to celebrate Jake, Pooja, and Gary’s birthday Thursday night after 7pm class!

Happy Birthday Jake! It’s been such a joy watching your growth and accomplishments. Thank you for being such an integral part of the fam and for the wonderful spirit you bring to each class. (and for giving me a heads up when you drive the BUG so I can punch Sean!)

Happy Birthday Gary! We miss your energy in the gym! Your enthusiasm and constant encouragement of your fellow gym members is so endearing. And your “drive bys” are hilarious! Next time, don’t drive by, STOP by!

Hope y’all can make it out on Thursday for dinner!

(Pooja’s bday is on Friday)

Happy Birthday Buddy! My favorite Jake memory is during the April challenge when I had to run 400m after a dismal day of DL and max pullups. Jake had just completed some 30 min endurance WOD and I asked him to pace me on my run. He looked at me and said “are you kidding?” Nope, lets run. He pushed me all the way around the hill and I got my personal best time by 20 seconds!

And to think this guy thought I hated him a year ago!!! You are the best!!

Happy Birthday Gary… if you ever check the site! We miss you!!

Happy birthday Jake! You’ve always had that drive since your early days and now it shows everyone how hard work pays off. Your CF prowess has definitely caught up to your running prowess. Have a great one!

My favorite memory of Jake is when the Billy Joel cover band quit and he had to get on stage and sing in order to save the Catalina Wine Mixer. Jake went up there and crushed a rendition of “Por Ti Volare” by Bocelli while I tried to keep up on the drums. Long story short he (we) saved the Effin Catalina Wine Mixer, got our step parents back together and mended his relationship with his real brother. Prestige Worldwide!

Okay so maybe that was a move plot (an awesome one at that), but it proves the point that Jake crushes everything while most just try to keep up. I have been fortunate enough to see most of Jakes progression firsthand since the early days in CFSB Lawndale and it has been nothing short of amazing. Your success is well deserved.

Thanks for pushing us all while remaining as humble as ever. Happy Birthday!

Gary, Happy Birthday as well! The drive bys are SO funny. You gotta stop in though!

POW POW!!

Jenna will tell you I enjoy two things about CrossFit. The comradery and “beating Jake’s stupid time”. This has come to fruition once or twice. Happy Birthday bud. I want to breath fire like you one day!! I won’t be at the dinner because I have to fly to San Jose for a FF draft.

Gary, happy birthday!! The dog drive by was one of the funnier things I have seen in recent history.

You’re my Boy Blue!!

While Brian and Anna brought me into Crossfit, it’s definatley the trainers and athletes that have kept me. Jake is tops on the athlete list because his energy is infectious and gets me psyched up for workouts regardless of how long a work day I’ve had. Happy Birthday homey and thanks for providing that extra motivation.

Happy Birthday Gary!!

geez so many memories to sift through. I remember back at the Crossfit South Bay days when it was just marcus, jake and I and all of a sudden a wheelbarrow walk came up and I was so against it because it was so outside of my comfort zone, but Jake was so encouraging and pretty much made me do it. that’s when I knew he would be a homie. happy birthday brother (but i dont know about this round of shots business).

Gary, happy birthday to you too … where are you? and does frankie like it when you man-handle him during your drivebye’s?? poor lil. but, Ok, it was funny.
