September Cup Challenge: The Olympic Total
posted by: ruth

Currently, the only two lifts recognized in the Olympics is the Clean & Jerk and the Snatch. Recently, Justin and AC from 70s Big came out and held a lifting workshop where many of us got some specific cues to work on with these lifts. This month, we’ll continue to work on these cues and various other skills. At the end of the month, we’ll hold a mini-meet where every athlete will have 3 attempts at each lift to find their Olympic Total. Full details of the challenge will follow next week. Here’s a video of Casey Burgener doing the snatch and Natalie Burgener’s Clean & Jerk.
Today, we’ll work towards a 1RM in both lifts. Check out some past articles on these lifts for a quick review:
Olympic Greats
The Almighty Snatch
Beginning of a Jerk
Finishing a Jerk
Faulty Jerks
Congrats to Jenna, who racked up a total of 110 burpees this month in the August Primal Challenge. Not only was she the only one who lasted the month in the challenge, she had to watch Drew as he fell of the wagon mid-month. Huge kudos to her for her tenacity and determination. What’s even better, we got to benefit as a gym from Jenna and Drew’s culinary ingenuity as they explored primal/paleo recipes this month. On a side note, 80 of Jenna’s burpees were as a result of this past weekend’s shenanigans so it’s worth noting she got through the majority of the month with just 3 gluten free cheats!
WOD 09.01.10
Snatch 1-1-1
Clean & Jerk 1-1-1

The September challenge looks scary and fun… Scary because I’m still afraid to throw heavy weight over my head.

Congrats Jenna! Way to own the August Challenge!! You’re looking great with all the hard work at CFI and Paleo discipline.
The September challenge does look daunting. But it will be good to work on some lifts that are a real weak spot. Bring it!!

WOW I feel so LOVED!!! Thanks guys, lemmie tell you, as much as I liked learning new recipes and figuring out what I could/couldn’t eat, this was one of the hardest diet challenges I have done in my life! Did anybody else complete this challenge?? I could have sworn there were some people left in it!!
I am a little nervous about this Sept challenge as I have found that anything overhead is difficult for me…but at the same time I guess there’s no better time than the present to work on my weak points!
