Ruth spent most of her adult years believing that she had a handle on fitness. That is, until she was introduced to CrossFit. Since she drank the Kool-Aid, she has dedicated her life to rescuing people from the dredges of bicep curls and bad diets.

Her training background includes being a Physical Trainer as well as an Arrest and Control Instructor at the Los Angeles Police Academy.

When not at the gym, Ruth can be found rock climbing in Malibu, surfing in San Onofre, or shooting rifles in the desert. Just as she thought, CrossFit has exponentially improved her performance in all the above activities.

Aside from baby koalas, puppies, and a perfect margarita, nothing brings a tear to her eyes like seeing people attain Personal Records: be it a kipping pull-up, a 2x body weight deadlift, or the mental victory of knowing they can push themselves much harder than ever before.

CrossFit Level I Trainer

CrossFit Specialty Certifications:
Nutrition
Mobility & Recovery

Marcus, our resident Obi-Wan Kenobi of all things Paleo, found that his devotion to CrossFit was evident from the start and studied all aspects from powerlifting, to rehabilitative stretching, to nutrition, to proper motivational music.

Having experimented with different diets throughout his life, from vegan to vegetarian, Marcus has quantitatively determined that the Paleo Zone way is the best lifestyle for athletic performance.  As our resident conscience, Marcus talks us all out of bad food choices even when he isn’t with us.  We just feel the nagging judgment in the back of our heads and know that it’s him.

Marcus has also found a passion for rock climbing, ascending quickly from beginner to advanced intermediate routes much faster than the average bear. This is attributed, no doubt, to his CrossFit training.  It’s well known in the gym that if you have a question that needs an answer, Marcus will find the it, along with twenty other links that support or refute the answer! But, what is truly awe-inspiring is that Marcus doesn’t just share knowledge, he inspires us all to seek it tirelessly.

Olympic Lifting

Sean’s commitment to fitness began at an early age when he played a wide array of sports including soccer, basketball, and football. His early achievements include All Conference accolades, MVP honors, and a selection as an Academic All-American. His athletic prowess afforded him the opportunity to play and coach collegiate football at the Air Force Academy and be a part of a team ranked as high as 15th in national polls. Thanks to his football endeavors, Sean has a healthy background in Olympic weightlifting and Power lifting and this is what initially attracted Sean to CrossFit. Sean experienced first-hand how these lifts improve overall fitness and athleticism and enjoys helping others attain similar results.

Sean was introduced to CrossFit in May 2008, but, like many, was skeptical about its effectiveness. As he incorporated CrossFit into his workouts Sean discovered not only that CrossFit’s short, intense workouts gave him better results than his previous gym workouts, which often lasted upwards of 2 hrs, but the emphasis on functional movements just made sense! After Sean was reassigned to California he joined a CrossFit box in March 2009 and has never looked back. After only about one month, Sean competed in the Last Chance Qualifier for the 2009 CrossFit Games and came roughly 30 seconds away from going to the finals in Aromas. Amazed at the results CrossFit produced in him, Sean dove headfirst into the CrossFit methodology and lifestyle and received his CrossFit Level 1 certification in September 2009.

Sean holds a B.S. in Behavioral Science with an emphasis on Counseling and Human Development from the United States Air Force Academy, and a M.A. in Management and Leadership from Webster University. Sean is currently a Captain in the Air Force with a background Aircraft Maintenance and Acquisition Program Management.
