“Who is Brutus?”, you newer members may ask. Ruth introduced him a little over a year ago and he is the pseudo-fictional CFI collector, enforcer, and scapegoat. Brutus pokes his head out to make demands every so often. If you haven’t read up on his previous notes, I’ll link them at the end of this post. They contain some important “rules” for the gym that we expect everyone to abide by.

Today Brutus has a couple bones to pick — reservations and parking.

Reservations

Brutus has asked you all a couple of times before to make sure to sign into class when we were flirting with our 12 person class cap. The time has come that classes are hitting (or exceeding!) that limit and people are neglecting to sign up for class. Don’t make us trainers be the bad guy and have to act as bouncers! The reason for this was stated by Ruth before:

Signing in for class guarantees that you a spot in class. Most classes don’t run into the problem of overbooking, but lately Saturdays, weekday 5pms, and weekday 7pms 6pms have gotten close. The reason we cap classes at 12 people is for your benefit. Having too many athletes in the gym makes it impossible for us to coach you each effectively. Also, it usually brings on space/logistical problems with the workouts and can prove disastrous if the WOD is equipment intensive.

Parking

On the east side of the alley next to the gym, we have technically three (but realistically four) spots that directly adjoin the gym. There is also a spot next to the abandoned pickup truck that can usually be used. Aside from that, all parking in the alley needs to be on the west side of the alley which is a free-for-all while that building remains unoccupied. We have had complaints from our neighbors about members blocking their driveways and we would prefer not to be “that tenant” that is always causing problems. No parking in the alley? There are plenty of spots on the south side of Franklin or on Penn. Sure it may be a little walk, but you do realize that you are coming to a gym…right? Don’t be afraid of a little work before your workout, like these guys:

As a final note, Saturday we will only have a 9am class as we will be at the Next Level Invitational to cheer on Brian. We have increased the cap size for the class, so be gentle with Jake in case the class starts bursting at the seams.

Love that picture, any chance of moving walkways in the alley anytime soon? Would make the crawl to my car much easier after the WOD…
