I’d like to start off by saying Happy Birthday to Chris G. and Saulo. Chris G. has been with Intrepid since 2010 and is a very dedicated athlete and does his best to make it in at least 4 times a week. Saulo is a new face around the gym, but has been going strong since March. We hope both you guys have a great birthday! As I was browsing through Mark’s Daily Apple I stumbled upon an interesting article regarding aging. Unfortunately it is difficult to beat out Father Time. He does get the best of all of us, whether you are a normal mortal or sports star. We all go through our primes and decline here and there. Although there isn’t a fountain of youth the article I read does offer 10 Rules of Aging Well. The rules seem pretty easy to follow and make 100% sense.

  1. Eliminate Self Destructive Behaviors- That means cut out the smoking, sugars, and excessive drinking.
  2. Eat Properly- We just came off a 90 day Nutritional Challenge and we all saw the benefits of eating well.
  3. Exercise- Lifting, met-cons, or just staying active can keep you energized for years to come.
  4. Manage Stress- Whether it is poor eating habits or negative people make the change to keep you happy.
  5. Think Young- “I am 55, 65, 75 and I am not old!” Keep the thoughts positive and keep being productive.
  6. Get Rest- Sleep! Your body needs to recover from the day for at least 7-9 hours a night.
  7. Practice Good Hygiene- Besides keeping the body clean, be sure to check up on vision, hearing, and dental. Preventing infections is a must!
  8. Prudent Supplementation- Fish oil can be a big help.
  9. Proactive Living- Make active choices. Seize the day!
  10. Balance- Sometimes the day doesn’t go as planned. Keep things in moderation.

I really enjoyed this article. Please check it out by clicking the link above and the 10 rules will go into more detail.

Happy Birthday Chris and Saulo!

question – KB C&J – is that one handed like a KB snatch or with two at a time?
