Today’s post is courtesy of Avelyne’s boyfriend, Mike. Mike was kind of enough to provide some stories and general info on the birthday girl.

I have learned when Avelyne snacks between meals, it’s called “snacking”.  When she snacks while I am making a meal for her (potentially ruining her appetite) it’s called “sampling”.

Avelyne doesn’t nag, instead she’ll gently poke the bear with a sharp stick 300-400 times until she gets what she wants.  This technique is called “Helping me remember”.

Avelyne came over to my house for the first time on our third date.  She was going to make me dinner for my birthday.  As busy as she was with dinner, she was gracious enough to take the time to let me know I had organized my kitchen completely incorrectly and offered to reorganize it then and there.  As a bonus she listed off all the appliances and utensils I was lacking and pointed out my decor was “Spartan”.

Avelyne and I attended the 1st birthday party for Zachery Munro (Drea’s son).  It was held in a public park and friends and family of Drea and Zachery were there.  Avelyne and I arrived later than anyone else.  She and I were both hungry and hoping there was food.  When we arrived we saw Drea, Zachery, friends, and family all gathered around several park tables.  We also discovered most of the food was already gone, however there was a woman manning a grill cooking up fresh carne asada on a grill next to the tables.  I pointed it out to Avelyne and her eyes lit up.  I asked if she wanted carne asada to which she replied she did.  I pointed out no one else was eating, but she simply explained we were late and they had already eaten.  I said fine, grabbed a plate for her and I and approached the woman who had raw meat on the grill and cooked meat off to the side.  When I approached (plate in hand) the woman just looked at me.  I said “carne asada looks good”.  She gave no reply and just stared.  Not wanting her to have to serve me I reached over and speared 3 large slabs of beef with my fork.  Avelyne did the same and we went and found available seating, at a table only feet away from the grill, and began eating.  After a few minutes of eating and smiling at the woman who had just fed us, one of Avelyne’s friends came over and asked how the carne asada was.  We both agreed it was actually quite good.  Her friend then pointed out that the woman at the grill wasn’t actually with our group and in fact was grilling for her waiting family 40 yards away.  Avelyne made me an accomplice to a robbery (that poor woman had fear in her eyes).  I have been conflicted about my job as a cop ever since.

Since I have met Avelyne I have learned that for decades I have been folding all of my towels in an improper bi-fold fashion. I fold the towels and she follows right behind me and folds them in the socially acceptable tri-fold fashion. I’m sure they absorb water better that way.

She wears these tiny little socks that I swear she’s stealing from Cade.

She invited me to a movie for our second date and then was 40 minutes late making miss the previews (which drives me insane and she still denies to this day).

She assumes any and all food left out in the open and unattended was left that way specifically for Avelyne and she’ll eat it.

Intrepid wishes you a very Happy Birthday, Avelyne! Thank you for being a great coach and pushing us to work harder every day.

Happy birthday Avelyne!!! I’m certain this post needs a rebuttal post where Avelyne can properly er rebutt Mike’s wildly exaggerated untruths. ;)

Awesome post Mike, and may I point out you never told me you were party to that 211. Guilty conscience? Also I can attest the tri-fold does in fact make the towel more effective.

Happy Birthday Avelyne I agree with Ruth’s comments above, no way can Avelyne allow these comments go unchallenged!

Happy Birthday Avelyne!!!! The first trainer I met on my free trial at Intrepid and made me hungry for more WOD’s. Great post for Mike and do agree with tri-folding the towels and keeping a place organized, that showed some great woman skills right there! Now I’ll be waiting for the come back to keep me entertained. ;)

Anyone else see a dead man walking???

Oh good lord!!! She was right in the middle of the party! Who BBQ’s in the middle of someone else’s party and doesn’t expect to have a few slabs of meat taken away!?! It can be considered as a BBQ rental fee!

I was never late to our 2nd date. He didn’t see the previews because he had to make a pit stop in the men’s room.

Yes, tri-fold towels are THE only way.

And yes, I thought his house was a mock set-up because it was bare bones. He didn’t even have a cutting board or knife so he purchased a “knife” from CVS two days before our third date! Yes, I said CVS.

No, you can’t leave food around me. But unattended food IS pretty much fair game!

Everything else is just a lie.

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys!!

Love it! Great post, Mike!

I will agree with Avelyne, tri-folded towels is the only way. However, I do sympathize with you Mike. Soon after I joined Intrepid, I hosted a girls night. I had fairly recently moved to California and moved in with a new roommate. When everyone came over with their mostly prepared foods, needless to say, there was a disappointment in my kitchen supplies. Soon after I went to target and made sure my kitchen utensils were up to snuff for the next girls night. I am grateful for the education though, couldn’t survive without them!

All kidding aside, you’ve been a great friend, Avelyne! So excited to continue competing with my training buddy! Main Course (aka Grade A Baloney) love! Happy Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday Avelyne,

Sorry I am a day late, but if anyone would understand being late I am sure it is you. I hope you had a great birthday. Thanks for all your coaching and encouragement. But, in Mike defense everyone knows police officers do not lie.
