Today’s post is courtesy of one of our newest members, Angela, who gives this most awesome shout out to her husband Paul.

Top 10 Things You Probably Didn’t Know about Paul:
1. Paul has random food dislikes. Such as – no walnuts in brownies, no raisins in bread, no olives, white meat chicken, mint flavored foods, coconut…. to name a few – there are others.
2. Paul and I have a dog named Riley. We have had him for almost 4 years and Paul still wishes we had named him Rufio (yes, from the movie Hook).
3. One of Paul’s all time favorite movie’s is Home Alone. Feel free to throw him a quote. He will respond in kind. (“This is my house, I have to defend it!”) Sandlot also works. (“FOR-EVVVVVV-ERRRRRR”)
4. Paul is originally from Liverpool, New York  - just outside of Syracuse, NY. This is why you will never hear him say its “freezing” in LA because “freezing” in Syracuse is under 20 degrees.
5. Paul has very random sports allegiances. He is a die hard Philadelphia Eagles fan (started when Donovan McNabb went to Syracuse.) He has no true baseball allegiance but has been known to root for the Red Sox (after going to college in Boston), is a Laker fan (after we moved to LA) and is a Detroit Red Wings Fan (after Sergei Fedorov. He also wears the same number as Fedorov – #91).
6. Paul has been to more than a dozen different countries. One of his favorite places is the original Legoland in Denmark.
7. Paul can play the spoons. (Please ask him, it’s hilarious.)
8. Paul worked abroad for almost 7 months in London, England and started becoming a Liverpool Soccer fan.
9. Paul played the trumpet. (For about a week, before his Mom shut that down.)
10. Paul’s dream job would be to own a restaurant/bar on a random stretch of beach and to live the quiet life.

Top 5 Things You Probably Do Know about Paul:
1. Paul runs marathons. He’s run 3 full marathons and 5+ half marathons. In his last marathon he broke a personal record with a mile time of 8:30. (Joke for you PK – it was my amazing sign making skills that gave you that extra boost!)
2. Paul works in advertising for an agency called 180LA – and has spent the two years working on ADIDAS. Hence the ADIDAS uniform he rocks to Crossfit everyday.
3. He is married to one of the most amazing people on earth. :)
4. He is a highly competitive guy – and a tremendous team player.
5. He has been playing ice hockey since he was 3 years old.

Happy Birthday Paul – we hope it is an amazing day/week and year!

Oh, and I totally agree with you about nuts in brownies and raisins in bread. Why ruin cinnamon bread by throwing raisins in there?!

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! I got exactly what I wished for for my birthday – a long WOD!

Mike S – I’m on a team that plays at the Toyota Center mostly Sundays, although I’m always willing to sub if I’m available.

Great post about our son, Paul! We enjoyed reading it. One little correction….it was a sousaphone that he played for 1 week. It’s like a tuba, but comes attached to a desk-like stand to hold it and wraps around the body. He wanted that instrument because it was the biggest one available. After playing it a few times, he decided he hated it.
