Sean playing a friendly family b-ball game at Bruce’s Beach

Sean’s birthday post this year comes courtesy of his brother Jack.  Sean hails from a family of athletes;  his brother Jack plays soccer and Alex plays hockey for a travelling team; and his sister Megan plays softball and field hockey.   I asked Jack to think of a memory of Sean’s involvement in sports and this is what he wrote:

I think the best sports memory I have of Sean isn’t actually a memory of him playing sports but a sports accomplishment.  I remember when he was first recruited by the Air Force Academy and our family went to breakfast with the coach at Denny’s.  It was really early in the morning and must have been before school.  Sean and the coach both seemed very excited about the future.

After Sean decided he was going to play for the Air Force Academy, I remember how proud of him I was.  I wrote about him in school journals, wore Air Force gear to school, and definitely remember bragging about him.  I’m still proud of him and his accomplishments and proud to call him my brother!

A huge thanks to Jack and to Sean’s awesome athletic family lineage for making him the amazing athlete he is today. His passion for coaching and never-ending thirst for knowledge is what makes him such a great coach. And his compassion and sincerity makes us feel warm and fuzzy and also makes him the “nice coach!” (Kidding!..kinda)

Happy birthday, Sean!  Thank you for never being complacent, for always pushing us to be better coaches, and for leading by example.  Thank you also for being an amazing husband, a wonderful father, and my best friend.

My favorite Sean sports memory was wod 1 of the winter shakedown when Crossfit Sean made his triumphant return. It was so exciting to see the spark back.

And then there is that picture of him doing KB snatches at in NLI 2010 that caught even Viv’s eye.

Happy Birthday Sean! Sweet post mom and Jack.
