The title might not make much sense at first glance, but if you’re wrapping up your first week of the Whole 30 challenge like many Intrepids are, the weekends in April definitely aren’t going to be like the ones you’re accustomed to.  Temptation galore, fighting old habits to cheat and let loose over the weekend, and trying to stay clean while being “social” are just a few of the scenarios most of us are likely to face this first, most important, weekend of the Challenge.  Rely on your partner if necessary and stay strong.  Who knows, we may even witness our first groups to get eliminated!  Most of you have been doing an excellent job posting your daily food log, but for those of you who haven’t you have until Monday to update your last week’s meals.

For those of you who have been keeping your food logs current, we’ve noticed a glaring trend that could drastically affect your results!  Eat more PROTEIN!  Meats, eggs, fish, shellfish, anything that had a face or would have had a face is preferred, but for those vegetarians and pescatarians, we’ll take whatever we can get.  Do you consider yourself meat challenged?  This Whole 9 article addresses many of the issues that can help you along your nutritional journey.  Whether you have difficulty with the texture or taste, avoid meat for moral reasons, or just need ideas to try and sneak it into meals, Dallas and Melissa’s article has some excellent advice and tips.  The first week is almost over, so eat more protein, stay hydrated, and log your meals in the new forum (Thanks Marcus!).

Marcus, what leads you to believe we are Protein challenged? Is it the 2 26oz Bone-in NY Strips Michelle and I ate Monday? Or is it the 1lb hamburger I ate last night? I tapped out on the steak 3/4 of the way through, but I powered through and killed that burger. If I eat any more protein, you’ll have to call me Sean!!
