This year we’re kicking things off by taking our commitment to improving your health one step further. As a precursor to our upcoming Nutrition Challenge, I’ll be holding a Saturday workshop on January 19th geared towards improving your sleep. I first brought up the idea for a Sleep workshop back in November and because of the interest we’ll be holding a one the Saturday after next from 11:30am-1:30pm. Whether you have trouble falling asleep, trouble staying asleep, or don’t feel rested enough when you wake I’ve tried to assemble information to address each issue. Topics will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Bedding considerations-suggestions for pillows and mattresses to provide necessary support and comfort
  • Sleeping positions-whether you prefer to sleep on your back or side, we’ll cover ways to maximize your comfort and improve posture
  • Nutrition and Supplements-Is what or when you eat affecting your sleep?  What about things like ZMA, Vitamin D, a warm glass of milk, or even a night cap?  All things you’ve heard folks recommend, but what does research and experience say?
  • Lifestyle Factors-want to know how things like stress, the amount and the tint of light, night time routines, and your sleeping environment impact your sleep?  We’ll discuss those and other ways to best ensure a restful night’s sleep.

Sign up now through our MindBody site by clicking here, selecting Workshops in the dropdown box, and reserve your spot in the seminar.  The 2 hour workshop is $20 to attend and I’ve limited the size of the session to 10 people so don’t put it off as I’m expecting it to fill up fast.  All I ask of attendees is to bring 2-4 pillows, a yoga mat or pad to lie on, and something to take notes with.

If you think that you can just clean up your diet and everything will be fine, let me leave you with a thought.  As Melissa and Dallas of Whole9 say, “Don’t try to find a nutrition solution to a lifestyle problem.” If you’re not getting enough quality rest clean food, fish oil, and exercise may help minimize the damage, but you’ll be nowhere near your potential.  With the ideas you’ll pick up from the Sleep Better Workshop coupled eating clean you’re well on your way to reaching your health and fitness goals.
