There seems to be a recent restaurant trend for the better with all these fish grill chains opening up locations in the near area. I recently tried another choice we have here in El Segundo, the Malibu Fish Grill. While the name and concept is similar to California Fish Grill that Sean reviewed, their menu is different — in a good way. Just as with California Fish Grill, many of the offerings are wild-caught, although they lack a sign stating so. When I asked, I was told that all the bigger fish (tuna, salmon, etc.) are wild caught, but it pays to ask the cashier if you want peace of mind. I was happy to hear this, since the salmon at California Fish Grill is farm-raised and I usually end up getting the seared ahi.

The side orders at Malibu Fish Grill are an improvement as well, with a fruit salad and garden salad as choices in addition to grilled zucchini. They feature a few different salads, which is what I chose to order. Pictured above is the Mediterranean salad with salmon, which was absolutely gigantic. I would advise to ask for the dressing on the side, as I forgot to do so. Also, this particular salad comes with feta cheese and they are very generous with the portions, so you may want to remove some. Overall, I will definitely be back to try one of the grilled plates and give this place a solid thumbs up.

Thanks for the review Marcus. I’ve driven by Malibu Fish Grill many times. I’ll have to give it a try.

@Pooja – I’m confused… unlike usual, I didn’t accuse anyone of any activities this weekend. How did I offend you today? Guilty conscience?
