Today’s post was written by Scott C. in celebration of his good friend Kathy’s birthday!  Thanks Scott!

Happy Birthday Chatty Kathy!!

Kathy has taken to Crossfit like I never would have guessed.  I’ve been playing volleyball with Kathy for years.  She’s always been athletic and competitive, but I never saw that Firebreather side.  She would ask about Crossfit, but always had a bunch for reasons why it wasn’t for her.  She joined Equinox.  She liked her Yoga and Pilates.  Then one day she decided to give it a try.  At first she was just doing one session at a time.  Then slowly over time she started coming more and more often.  One day she showed up with MATCHING SOCKS!!  And Ruth is telling me stories about Kathy starting a WOD slowly but setting a steady pace and before you know it she’s done, waiting for everyone else to catch her!  WOW!  She’s become a true Intrepid!

Kathy is infamous for her negotiating…. whether that’s getting insurance companies to pay up or trying to convince Ruth to properly scale her weights and reps.  She negotiated so well in her last case that she walked away with a young man’s heart.  The only thing that in non-negotiable is Kathy’s heart and drive, and the dramatic improvements she’s made over the past few months.  The notorious non-cook has even put forth a valiant effort at Paleo….eating the meat out of sandwiches at lunch and selecting a Paleo-friendly restaurant for her birthday dinner.

Happy Birthday to one of our newest Firebreathers!  Welcome to Intrepid Family Kathy!

Aw, thank you Scotty! I LOVE the write-up. Thank you to the CF trainers for always kicking my butt and helping me to realize I can do physical things I never thought I could do. And lastly, thank you to my fellow CFers. You make coming home from a long day at work to do a challenging WOD so much fun that I look forward to it.

xo,
Kathy
