The Frogman Challenge is building momentum in the SoCal region. The event was originally planned for Saturday, April 14th but the registration filled up so fast that they extended the competition an extra day. Registration to compete on Sunday is now open and information can be found here. Don’t worry, final standings won’t be announced until Sunday athletes have finished. The venue hasn’t been finalized set but expect to travel to Orange County for the day. The registration fee will run you about $99, but this competition is unlike any you’ve likely done before. Check out the video below to see what I mean:

Most of us take oxygen for granted, breathing whenever we please. During this competition, however, oxygen will be at a premium and it adds a whole new challenge to the workouts. A few Intrepids have expressed an interest, so sign up if you’re interested and get your butt into a pool to supplement your gym training. You’ve got until April 15th, and days are going by quickly. If there’s enough interest we can set up a swim clinic for those who are hydro-challenged or just need a refresher on technique. Swimming is similar to lifting in that efficiency is the name of the game. The more efficiently you can move and position your body the faster and longer you’ll be able to swim. Please post to comments if you’re interested in competing in the April Frogman Challenge or attending a swim clinic.

“Don’t Screw Your Neighbor”
In Teams of 4-5:
Complete the Following:

  • Flip Tire to Fence and Flip Back
  • 7 Rope Climbs
  • 20 Handstand Push Ups or 35 Plyo Push Ups
  • 40 Box Jumps
  • Row 60 Calories

-Athlete 1 starts with the tire flips and tags Athlete 2 when they are complete. Athlete 1 moves on to the rope climbs while Athlete 2 starts on the tires.
-Each athlete can “pass” a number of reps in ONE movement to the team member behind him. Example: Athlete 1 can’t finish the rope climbs and is holding up the team. He may opt to pass his remaining rope climbs to the next team member who has to complete the remaining reps as well as his own 7.  Athlete 1 can no longer pass on any other movement.  Note that the last team member has no one to pass reps to.
