Catalyst Athletics’ GPP Seminar

This last weekend, Sean and I went to to a seminar on General Physical Preparedness, merging the benefits of Oly lifts, powerlifts, gymnastics into an ideal hybrid program.  The speakers were subject matter experts in their fields and gave us insight into fine tuning our program for the gym.  We’re really excited both because, while we were on the right track already, we have more resources for improving our program, especially as some of you get closer to the ends of your linear progressions.

SoCal #3 Mini (2009)

Just throwing this out there, kind of $$, but sounds fun.
Sake Bomb!
Immerse yourself in the Japanese spirit at the LA Sake Festival
This three-hour event offers samples from more than 100 sake brands. Hot or cold, filtered or unfiltered, they’ve got it all, including an open bar of specialty sake cocktails.
Take an introductory sake class or just sample freestyle. But because learning the ins and outs of alcoholic beverages can take its toll, you may want to grab food beforehand, seeing as this is a liquor-only event.
Though if you don’t eat, you’ll be even more primed for the evening’s topper: karaoke. Prepare to belt out a few of your favorite tunes, Lost in Translation-style.

Oooh, that sounds fun, but I’d be passed out after taking the ‘intro to sake’ shot, so the $50 would totally go to waste! But on a good note, I WOULD be the first one drunk enough to get my karaoke on! Sean’s brother’s coming into town that weekend, so we’ll have to rain check! … When’s the next (first) social gathering?!

ruth, you is a light weight? I didn’t know? or is it just the sake that gets you?
hmm, our next-first gathering … I’ll write some suggestions again on the board. hopefully no bumps in the road this time :)
and we can also vote for locals. i like activities vs. a din din, so let’s see what the consensus is. yay!
