MovNat (Natural Movement) seeks to rehab the Zoo Human (think of us as the Madagascar cartoon animals). Through decades of dependency on modern technology (good and bad) we have almost forgotten what it is to be human and what we are truly capable of. Erwan Le Corre defines being fit not as being able to run a marathon or bench 400#s. He says, “It’s about rediscovering our biological nature and releasing the wild human animal inside….It involves the combined training of walking, running, jumping, balancing, moving on all fours, climbing, lifting, carrying, throwing, catching, swimming and defending.”

We have a few million years of survival skills programmed into our DNA. MovNat’s goal is to reacquaint us with our innate abilities in order to apply them as not only survival skills, but life skills.

MovNat is primarily based on rediscovering and optimizing instinctual movement patterns. It is in the first place about re-wiring the entire system of the human body back to its original mode and function. It focuses on unleashing the wild movement potential in us and on reviving skills that have been proving to be the most efficient and vital ones for millions of years.

So why run? Why jump? Why climb? Why lift? Why…walk?

Because we believe that even a highly civilized world holds a multitude of situations where our evolutionary capacities remain indispensable.

Check out this great article in Men’s Health magazine, Robb Wolf’s MovNat experience, or Free the Animal’s reviews for more info on what their workshops have to offer!

Scott will be attending their one-day workshop this April, but there will be quite a selection of them in So Cal and our surrounding areas so check it out and take your functional fitness to the next level!

If anyone would like to join Michelle and I for the April MovNat session in San Fran, let me know. We’re happy to carpool.

There are also sessions in Santa Barbara (as Mike mentioned), Palm Springs, and Las Vegas but we were already booked for those dates.
