This time, yesterday’s birthday boy, Patrick, pays it forward and wrote this guest post for Bryant’s birthday:

Bryant joined the family at Crossfit Intrepid a few months back, just after we moved into the new gym. Being an avid cyclist and athlete, he had no trouble completing on-ramp. Although he learned the different lifts quickly, he found out that a lot of them take quite a bit of flexibility! Many of us see Bryant in the gym almost everyday, and know what a hard worker he is. What some of you probably haven’t noticed is just how competitive he can be! Having to start with light weights killed him, and he always checks the morning times to see what he has to beat in the afternoon. As the weeks go by though, his weight continues to get heavier, his times get faster, and he loves crossfit all the more for it. He also knocked the Whole30 out of the park, and ensured Celina and I stayed on track. You may have noticed that Bryant, Celina, and I usually work out together – this is because we have know each other for 5 years and are all in the Air Force together. You might say he is the Marcus to our Sean and Ruth.

Sometimes I think that Bryant and I are genetically programmed to be friends. We might even be twins separated at birth, but our mom would have had to have gone through an extraordinarily long labor since we were born 24 hours apart. Let me tell you what I mean:

1. We are around the same height and build.
2. Our dads personalities are very similar and therefore our personalities are very similar.
3. We both had very similar best friends in high school who were a bad influence on us.
4. We both like soccer, golf, softball, and shooting.
5. We both played trumpet in band in high school. Band geeks forever!
6. We both joined the AF and were stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force Base together and then next were stationed at Los Angeles Air Force Base (which is almost unheard of in the military)
7. Our black labs are half-brothers — Breckenridge and Miles (see attached pics) — Bryant liked our dog Breckenridge so much, he got Miles from the same breeder
8. We both have Toyota 4Runners

Bryant is an awesome friend, an honorary uncle to our son Aidan, and continues to inspire us to be better and train harder. Happy Birthday dude, too bad you weren’t born 24 hrs earlier :)
