Josh was kind enough to return the favor and write up a very sweet birthday post for Tami today:

Tami has been doing crossfit since October and has made some nice gains along the way. She has also been trying the Paleo diet for the past week or so and has seen some nice changes.  She can now do 8 unassisted pullups, which is a nice increase from the 3 chinups she performed in January.  No more “bullshit band” as Ruth put it when performing a WOD now.  She is also improving her pushups so she doesn’t need the baggy shirt to avoid chest to the floor.  A little beginner trick of the trade.

Tami has been coming in consistently to the 6 o’clock class 4 days a week and has been much happier as a result.  Not that I didn’t like hearing how bad work was that day, but you know.  Thank you Intrepid.  Tami is also very competitive, especially when there is running in the WOD.  Running is one of her strengths.  By the way, she came in 3rd place in her division at the El Segundo  5k last week.  But she is also very concerned for others, their feelings and confidence.  Sometimes she feels bad when running past someone who is struggling, and she will slow down and sandbag a little bit so they won’t feel as bad.  Of course I tell her to pass them up, no mercy, but she’s much nicer than me.

Tami has also improved her flexibility.  She used to hate to stretch.  In fact, she would just do a couple of old school almost toe touches before and maybe after we ran, i think just so I wouldn’t be stretching alone.  But now she is stretching and rolling almost every night, and even her shoulders sometimes too Marcus.  She works out hard, but there is no time to rest afterwards.  She then takes the kids home and goes through another hour or so routine of reading to each boy individually, getting them ready for bed, and getting them to sleep, which can be very challenging in itself, especially for our youngest.  He likes to stretch it out as long as possible.  But Tami is a great mom and a loving wife who makes me a better person just being around her.  Happy birthday from me and the boys and keep on being you.

Tami, happy birthday! I thoroughly enjoy working out with you, so I’m glad to hear you get the same bust-out-of-work rut that I get as well.
