Today we have a guest post from our resident social chair, Anna, to tell you about an upcoming event!

I would like to invite you all to the inaugural CFI Games:  An in-house competition that will cater to all skill levels.  The details of the day are all in development, but as the “on the bus or under it” chair, I would like to provide a brief introduction to the day.

Who:  You (yes you) are heavily encouraged to compete.  Your family and friends are all welcome to come spectate (cheer you on, eat delicious food, and enjoy a day in the sun).

There will be three divisions, with winners and prizes (GOOD prizes) for each division. In Part II of this post you will get an overview of the divisions and an understanding of where you should sign up.  If you have any questions about where you belong, ask one of the coaches.

What:  Many of you have come out to support your fellow Intrepid athletes in competitions around town so you know the drill.  For those of you who don’t, it is basically a day of CrossFit.  There will be two workouts, which you will complete at least 2 hours apart.  You will be separated into heats based on your division.  Every division will do the same basic workout, scaled according to the divisions.  Scoring and movement standards will be provided before the competition.  Each person will be assigned a judge for each event that will count your reps and encourage you along the way.

In addition to the actual workout, Brian’s Bowls will be on site selling lunches and a DJ and MC will provide entertainment.

When:  The event is Saturday September 29th 2012 beginning at 8am.  The immediate date you should remember is Monday July 2- registration opens.  Registration forms will be available in the gym by the books.  Please pick one up and return it as soon as possible, but no later than July 22nd.

Where:  The competition will take place in the box.  The parking lot will be closed so that there is enough space to spread out.

Why:  Other than the fact that it will be guaranteed fun, competing has a sneaky way of pushing you to train harder.  You officially have 3 months’ notice, figure out your goats and fix them… trust me it is PLENTY of time.  It also is an opportunity to show off how strong you are to your friends and family, and win some great prizes.

Cost:  $25 (prepaid with your registration form) includes a T-shirt and swag bag for all competitors.

We will also need volunteers who (in addition to competing) are willing to help with sign-in, bar loading, set-up, and tear down.  Please post to comments if you are interested in volunteering.

Got burning questions?  Post to comments.

This is going to be a blast! Also an opportunity for all of us to finally cross paths and meet with all the other CFI members.

Can’t wait!
