Nutrition seems to be everyone’s Achilles’ when it comes to lifestyle fitness. They say it’s too difficult to revamp their diets and that Paleo/Zone is too overwhelming to wrap their heads around. You know what? You’re right. Unless you have a very special obsessive compulsive disorder that keeps you on the straight and narrow, going cold turkey on Paleo can make you a grouchy beast. I speak from experience.

So, how do you do start? Just like in CrossFit movements, there’s a progression for everything. Start with one meal a day. Breakfast is a good way to start. You can either cook it before you leave for work or prepare it the night before. There are all kinds of things you can do with eggs: poached, boiled, scrambled, over-easy, and omelet. Add some bacon or avocado, have a side of berries, and of course, the coffee with heavy cream, and you have a hearty, healthy Paleo meal.

Post your Paleo breakfasts to comments.

Ruth, thank you… I appreciate knowing that I’m very special. (Even though you likely meant “short bus” special.)

I’d give more input on breakfasts, but if anyone’s really bored, they can look at my old blog posts for some ideas and pictures. Sadly, no heavy cream in my coffee this morning. I’ve been IF-ing again since last week — beware. ;)

Is the Marcus “IF-ing” equivalent to PMS?

LOL, yes IF = PMS, but DAILY usually only for a couple of hours before each meal. Proceed with caution.

Hey hey now… I’m not THAT bad! But yes, if you see me before my first meal I may not be the usual Marcus you’re used to. :D

Baby steps? I have never heard those words from Marcus! I’m used to ….”PALEO OR DIE!!”

I’m a big fan of baby steps. A marathon starts with a single step.

I took step 1 today re-dedicating myself to the diet side of Crossfit. Last night I made a batch of those breakfast egg muffins that Al posted on CFSB. Pretty tasty and very easy to prep quickly. I got tired of cooking every morning before work.

Any other favorites I should try? I’m going to try Marcus’ curry and I like the recommendations for Paleo at Chipotle and The Counter.

well, scott, marcus still subscribes to Paleo or Die. I’ve gone soft and will accept baby steps, provided they’re going in the right direction!!

Yes, I am still “Paleo or Die”. No baby steps here. No marathons either though, steady state cardio is not CrossFit. :)

Hmm… gives me an idea for a “no baby steps” post of my own!
